A new investigation from the U.S. Geological Survey indicates that about 45% of the nation's tap water could harbor per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS), chemicals recognized for their possible environmental consequences. The study, concentrating on 32 selected PFAS types among more than 12,000, underscores the difficulty in identifying all variations using current testing approaches.
